Hi, I am looking for a good Martial Arts training DVD that I can do at home when I am not in the studio. I am looking for something that has parts that are bit fast paced so I get some cardio, but also has some things for technique as well. You know something good but is not "Tae Bo"

If you notice many top athletes will close their eyes just before entering the ring, diving into the pool or running that race. What they are doing is visualizing their success at what they are about to do and this can help you with martial arts training as well. Whether it is military self defense or classic martial arts, being able to see yourself successfully taking on an attacker and winning will go a long way toward making it actually happen. Scientific research backs up these positive mental images and how they can help people succeed at what they are doing.

Kids today need a form of self defense in order to cope with child predators and bullies who now prey on our kids. While military self defense training may be a little drastic for young kids to use against their school yard taunters, martial arts may just be the answer. For many years kids have done martial arts training to learn discipline and get exercise and now they can also use it for self defense. Stop sending your kids out without a way to take care of themselves when you cannot be there to protect them.

There are many weapons that some people carry with them as tools for self defense instead of taking the time to learn martial arts to defend themselves. Maybe they feel that martial arts is too complicated to learn or that they just do not have the time. While carrying a weapon such as pepper spray or a stun gun can be effective at stopping an attack these are not perfect at always doing so. But all weapons should be backed up with self defense training so that should the weapon malfunction or even not be effective on the criminal other skills are there to fight off the attack.

While nobody really wants to drag out an attack many lack the skills that come from martial arts training to put a quick end to the encounter without putting themselves in more danger. The longer a fight goes on the less the chances will be that the victim will be able to escape without serious harm coming to them. But with hand to hand combat training everyone can learn moves that can not only stop the attack but totally disable the criminal to put a quick end to the incident for your absolute safety.
