In self-defense situations, it is better to keep a close distance as quickly as possible. Now you may ask, “Why would someone want to do that?”
You see an attacker would expect you to move back a little because of fear. Do yourself a favor and surprise him by getting closer instead.
In this scenario, you leave him shocked. If you are too close to be hit, he cannot hurt you. Capitalize by getting a few hits of your own using your elbows, knees and close-range punches.
Be sure though that your attacker is unarmed and is not hiding any weapons. Learn more close combat training when you can.
